“In-Focus Student Award” Interview/ Profile
Why do you want to be a Professional Makeup artist?
I love the transformation process of applying makeup – whether its beauty makeup, creative, theatrical or SFX. Seeing how makeup can conceal an identity, enhance it, alter it or create a completely new one has always fascinated me! It’s a real art form and every face is a new canvas.
What is your ultimate Goal/Job?
To be a makeup designer for film and Theatre, ideally broadway or the west end in London. I love both and I cant decide just yet, so maybe I will do both!
What/who inspires you?
I feel most inspired when I’m working among like minded creative people who are positive and minded too! Being able to bounce ideas around and getting your creativity flowing. I am very lucky to have that with my classmates and trainers here at media makeup.
What is your favourite Product in your makeup kit?
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
Who is your favourite Makeup artist and why?
Toni G / Naomi Donne / Gregory Nicotero. These three cover beauty, film, special effects and gore in some of my favourite films.
What has been your greatest achievement so far?
I would have to say making the decision to leave a career in England that I was unhappy in. Then choosing to study and live here in Adelaide, Australia, doing something that I have always dreamed if doing! Within 6 months I have already worked a day on a feature film – an opportunity I’m so grateful for!
Where will you be in the next 10 years?
I very much hope that I am successful as a makeup artist, that I manage to stay current and continue to develop my skills as technology progresses. I wan to be surrounded by fun creative people – Ideally on a yacht stocked full of Prosecco!!! J
