Summary

This program is combination of Makeup & Beauty, designed to learn a variety of services required to either set up a at home salon or work within a hairdressing/beauty salon or spa. With a strong focus on Makeup skills covering all of the fundamentals to provide event makeup services such as Photographic Makeup and Bridal Makeup. This course includes a Professional Photoshoot.

Adding Beauty services that complement Makeup is a great way to be able to maximize and diversify your income as most beauty services are needed all year round and can fill up your appointments during the week and build a returning clientele. During the program you will learn Lash Extensions, Lash & Brow Tinting, Brow Shaping, Waxing Services, Spray Tanning and Manicure & Pedicure Services including Gel nails.

Salon Placement

To fulfil the requirements of the qualification, students are required to complete a variety of services in our Student Salon at the Academy. This needs to be on variety of clients to demonstrate and apply the practical skills and knowledge and complete the assessment requirements. Students will be able “Book In” to the students salon once confident to complete the assessment. This done at the each students own pace.

Work Experience 

To fulfil the requirements of the qualification, students are required to complete min of 38 hours of “on the job” training in a Salon Environment completing waxing services. Students can seek there own work experience in a salon of choice or we will assist you to find appropriate placement.

Mode of DeliverY

 

All of our Programs have a strong focus on practical application, where students will learn within a simulated workplace environment. Students will work with our highly skilled trainers to observe Trainer demonstrations, practice their skills and receive one on one feedback, gather hints and tips about working in the industry, and reviewing the latest trends. We have two types of study options available:

Face to Face 

Structured classes are conducted every Tuesday & Wednesday Evenings from 6pm-8-30pm or Monday & Tuesdays  9:30am to 2:30pm at the Academy and our trainers will guide you through the entire course program, including theory and practical. Program starts at specific intakes dates. The average time frame to complete program including, salon placement and work experience is 8-12months.

Requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed Year 10, be at least 16 years of age and have basic computer competency.

Prior to enrolment all prospective participants are required to be assessed for Upfront assessment of need and attend a pre enrolment interview.

This course is subsidised by the South Australian Government for Eligible Students.

Participants are required to purchase kits prior to the relevant subjects.

PARTICIPANT COURSE FEE EXEMPTION

Participants over the age of 16 and who are, or have been, under the Guardianship of the Minister for Education.

PARTICIPANT COURSE FEE CONCESSION REIMBURSEMENT

Participant Course Fee concession if:

Participant holds a current:

–  Health Care Card;

– Pensioner Concession Card; or

– Veteran Affairs Concession Card; or

– if the Participant is a Prisoner.
